Conservationist honoured

Edition 46: Spring 2009

David Shepherd, the renowned wildlife artist, conservationist and founder of the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF), was recently presented with a CBE for services to conservation by The Prince of Wales at an investiture at Buckingham Palace.

David Shepherd CBE stated: “I am extremely honoured to have received this award. I could never have achieved what I have over the last 50 years, in the fight to save so many of the world’s critically endangered species without the support of the dedicated David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF) team, artists, volunteers and supporters from around the world. My only sadness is that so few honours go to those who dedicate their lives to the protection of this planet’s most vulnerable animals. My award is shared with all the brave men and women in the field who risk their lives fighting against wildlife crime – they are the forgotten heroes, and my inspiration.”
